We created this app for our health professional colleagues
Being full-time clinicians we want to make our practice better, faster and more professional. With this in mind we developed an electronic method for recording sensation assessments using Semmes-Weinstein monofilaments or Weinstein Enhanced Sensory Test (WEST) monofilaments. As SensationAx took shape we realised that it could contribute to our community of health professionals and were keen to make it easily available to our colleagues.
We feel it is important that SensationAx is free to use. As a result there are advertisements on SensationAx to help support its development and ongoing improvements. Don’t worry the advertisements won’t pop up or get in the road when recording your results.

our Team
Hand Therapy Technologies is the company behind SensationAx. Hand Therapy Technologies was started by Ben Bugden and Dion Sandoz with the goal of developing products that will streamline their practices.
Ben Bugden
Dion Sandoz
Dion and Ben are both occupational therapists with over 30 years of combined experience in the specialty of hand therapy. They are Certified Hand Therapists (USA) and Accredited Hand Therapists (As awarded by Australian Hand Therapy Association). Dion is the Principal Therapist and owner of Hunter Hand Rehabilitation Centre. Ben is the Principal Therapist and owner of Inner West Hand Therapy and Rehabilitation.

Yes. We created SensationAx to make our practice (and yours) better, faster and more professional. Like a lot of apps there are banner ads for our supporters to use. We won't put ‘pop ups’ on SensationAx as this would interfere with your clinical time.
The site is served over SSL, meaning the communication between your browser and our server is encrypted. All data is stored in a HIPAA compliant environment.
Yes. We would really like to hear from you. We are constantly looking for ways to improve SensationAx.
From the clinician Dashboard select “Settings”. From here you can:
- Set either Semmes-Weinstein Monofilament Test or Weinstein Enhanced Sensory Test as my preferred assessment
- Set volar or dorsal of either the right or left hand as your preferred view to assess first
We recommend users save a shortcut to www.sensationax.com to streamline the time it takes to perform your assessment. This is easily setup on all devices. Firstly open up the Login page, then:
PC/Mac/Laptop web browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox etc.): Simply save as a bookmark and attach to the bookmark toolbar
iPhone/iPad (Safari): Select “” and then “Add to Home Screen”
Android (Chrome): Select the menu button and then “Add to homescreen”.
